Our ideal candidate has significant expertise in major gifts and capital campaigns, is an excellent communicator, strategically minded, detail oriented, creative and enthusiastic about funding strategies, and is ready to embrace the Folger’s mission. Applicants must have demonstrated experience closing gifts of a minimum of $50,000, with a strong preference for six- and seven-figure closure experience.
Needed: B.A. in an applicable field and five years of progressively responsible development experience, preferably in a cultural or academic institution in the context of a capital campaign. Must be skilled in face-to-face solicitation, writing persuasive appeals, effectively working with volunteer leadership and senior staff, researching donor prospects and relationships, and developing strategies to increase funding. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required; experience with fundraising databases and email marketing programs also required; knowledge of Tessitura is a plus.
