The UPO Inspire Development Associate will be responsible for supporting the UPO Inspire (Inspire) Board in its fundraising and donor development efforts. This includes coordinating, managing and implementing UPO Inspire development activities including grant prospecting and writing; supporting Inspire Board members with cultivation and outreach activities to individuals, corporation and foundation representatives to raise funds to support UPO adult education and training programs. This includes assisting with the coordination, scheduling and preparation for donor meetings. Additionally, the Development Associate will create and maintain the monthly meeting agendas and minutes for UPO Inspire Board meetings.
Develop an annual grant prospecting list to secure funding and/or in kind support for adult education and training initiatives.
Develop proposals, letters of interest/enquiry to secure resources to support training for individuals slightly above the poverty line.
Engage UPO Inspire Board members to coordinate donor cultivation and outreach plans.
Collaborate with the UPO Workforce Division to stay abreast of training schedules and outcomes
Collects support and compliance documents necessary for grant application completion.
Coordinates the preparation and presentation of grant applications in accordance with timelines and funding requirements. Maintains all aspects of the internal grant support system.
Maintains file of grant submissions and award notification letters.
Attends bid conferences as necessary.

Additional Salary Information: The consultant will be working approximately 40 hours per month.

UPO has served as Washington DC’s community action agency since 1962. UPO Inspire leverages internal and external resources for services that cannot be funded by UPO’s current revenue sources to support training for the working poor. It also supports regional services and increased involvement of the community in UPO’s work.
