The Mid-Level Giving Manager, based at IFAW’s headquarters in D.C., will work as an integral part of IFAW’s global mid-level team. In support of IFAW’s strategic plan and the Worldwide Supporter Development Director, this role will be responsible for increasing income from mid-level donors.
This passionate and enthusiastic fundraiser will manage a personal portfolio, execute our global mass stewardship and US events in support of the mid-level giving program.
The Mid-Level Giving Manager will provide appropriate cultivation, stewardship and solicitation to a portfolio of US mid-level donors. This role will manage the execution of US mid-level cultivation events and the execution of our global mass stewardship strategy.
Role and Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of US mid-level donors to maximize revenue. Utilize fresh thinking to develop cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategies that set IFAW apart from other NGOs that portfolio donors may be supporting
Identify donors with major gift potential within the mid-level portfolio
Develop pioneering personal stewardship techniques to retain and upgrade portfolio donors through enhancing their donor journey and positioning IFAW as their charity of choice
Develop solicitation strategy to increase mid-level portfolio giving in the 5k – 10k range
Proactively contact specific supporters in portfolio in advance of fundraising appeals to make “soft ask”
Respond to all inbound portfolio calls, emails, and correspondence within 24 hours.
Enter all donor stewardship interactions into Team Approach, in an accurate and timely manner.
Manage the execution of all worldwide mass stewardship including but not limited to acknowledgements, educational materials, Program Update, back-end premium fulfillment, welcome packages, etc.
Mass stewardship management includes but is not limited to approving story selections, content and images, proof reading, ordering materials through internal production teams and maintaining automated mail/email accuracy.
Manage the execution of highly curated, intimate US mid-level cultivation events for portfolio donors as well as the execution of VIP experiences around IFAW Communications/media led events.
Support the Development Events Manager to execute US mid-level fundraising events, and events developed around IFAW’s Board of Directors, to include developing collateral pieces, researching venues and caterers, developing invite lists, monitoring coding and RSVPs, ensuring strong program content, creating guest list and name tags, working with venue on audio/visual needs, developing menu with caterer.
Support the Development Events Manager to execute the US event fundraising follow-up for all attendees and invitees outside of portfolios
Maintain a high level of awareness and expertise on US fundraising trends and best practices
Collaborate closely with IFAW country staff and IFAW fundraising leaders to ensure consistent donor treatment and complementary activities.
Remain current on:
IFAW programs, campaigns, and emergency relief efforts (current, past, planned)
Broad scope of animal welfare issues
IFAW position statements
IFAW marketing and fundraising efforts
Financial policies, tax regulations, charity watchdog ratings and other relevant financial services
Programs and services of other animal-related organizations
Present IFAW’s brand in a positive and comprehensive manner.
Execute other tasks as directed by the Director, Supporter Development, Mid-Level Giving Manager, and Development Events Manager.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Five to seven years of mid-level donor experience focusing on portfolio management with proven success of increasing income through a pioneering vision to enhance relationships through stewardship and cultivation
Two to three years event planning/execution experience
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, business or a related field, is preferred.
Ability to work on multiple jobs at one time, with enormous time constraint pressure, to meet absolute deadlines of multi-channel campaigns for eight countries involving four languages, on a routine basis.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with high-level individuals in a multinational environment.
A very sharp, highly organized and self-motivated individual.
High proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Team Approach, or other similar database programs.
Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated, diverse, team.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Willingness to travel domestically as required with occasional international travel.
Flexibility to work in the evenings or weekends as required (for global IFAW calls, events, donor meetings, etc.)
