The Senior Assistant Director of Advancement at the VSE is a key Advancement professional and member of the Advancement team responsible for data collection/analysis/processing, reporting, social media, stewardship, scholarship program oversight, and grant research/writing in support of the Director of Advancement and the VSE Dean. Primary responsibilities include serving as leading advancement data analytics and analysis; identifying, creating, and maintaining reporting tools; directing social media and the web in tandem with the director of communications; creating and directing a complete stewardship and acknowledgement program for all donor constituents, including donor recognition and stewardship events; leading the scholarship program; and, grant research and writing. All these activities will focus on increasing and improving donor identification, solicitation, and retention to achieve greater resources for the Volgenau School of Engineering.
Researching, recommending, and writing grants, leveraging the resources of the Central grants office;
Creating, executing and evaluating a comprehensive multi-year stewardship program that appropriately leverages resources from the Central Advancement team;
Developing a data analytics/analysis program; serving as the VSE lead on the central database, and working closely with the Central Advancement team;
Developing a multi-channel communications plan;
Leading donor recognition and acknowledgements;
Overseeing and executing advancement donor recognition events, whether VSE or Centrally operating;
Create, manage, reconcile and evaluate his/her advancement budget;
Providing budget recommendations for the overall VSE Advancement budget, and creating budget recommendations for his/her areas on an annual basis;
Attend Central meetings for digital engagement and other Central meetings as necessary;
Traveling as necessary; and
Pitching in and contributing to the positive/supportive culture of the VSE Advancement Office;
Leading the Advancement component of the Scholarship program that includes coordinating annual stewardship reporting, engaging scholarship donors in VSE events and activities, identifying potential new scholarship donors, reaching out to and coordinating efforts with scholarship awardees for stewardship opportunities, and working closely with Central on scholarship programs and activities.
A demonstrated record of program development and leadership;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting continuous deadlines;
Understanding of data analytics and analysis;
Experience with central databases/programs;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite;
Experience creating and using social media and the web;
Professional demeanor and good presentation skills;
Experience writing grants and demonstrating success of same;
Experience with budget management;
A valid driver's license.
Minimum of five years' experience in stewardship, donor relations, development operations, event management/leadership, data management, and/or grant writing, preferably in higher education.
Possess an understanding of, and the ability to, articulate the accomplishments and goals of a complex organization; and demonstrate sound judgment necessary for interacting with donors, prospects, trustees, faculty, and staff.
Experience with a non-profit highly desirable.
