The President of the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation will have the responsibility to direct all operations of the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Virginia Hospital Center Health System. S/he will serve also as the President of the Foundation as well as a member of the Hospital's executive team. The President of the Foudation will report to the President & CEO of the Health System and work closely with the Foundation's Board of Directors to meet the Hospital's overall strategic objectives and to ensure all communications accurately reflect Virginia Hospital Center's mission and vision.
The President of the Foundation should have experience leading a multi-million, comprehensive fundraising program, preferably for a hospital. The President of the Foundation is responsible for planning and managing all aspects of fundraising activities including fostering relationships that will include a mix of major gifts, legacy gifts foundation grants, corporate giving, events and online, grassroots appeals. S/he will have significant experience in cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects for gifts of $1 million or more, engaging and managing high level volunteers, and leading the Foundation staff. It is crucial that the successful candidate for the position demonstrate natural leadership skills for effective management of a busy, high-level Board of Directors while maintaining positive working relationships.
In addition, the Foundation is poised to launch a major capital campaign in support of the Health System's planned expansion. The ideal candidate will possess experience in implementing a campaign plan, recruiting volunteer leaders, representing the Health System to leadership donors, and ensuring that campaign operations are fully integrated with on-going fundraising operations.

Sets annual and multi-year goals for the Foundation and directs annual planning of all fundraising activities for the Foundation to meet those goals. Develop annual expense budget for approval by the Health System, monitor progress of that budget and ensure that the Foundation performs at or below the budget
Create a team oriented approach to fundraising and the fundraising process by building strong relationships with key stakeholders including medical staff, Hospital administrative leaders, volunteers and other Hospital staff
Identify, cultivate and solicit--with the assistance of key Board members and volunteers--those individuals and corporations and foundations able to make major/legacy gifts to support the priority needs of the Hospital
Identify Hospital priorities suitable for funding from private foundation and government agencies, and oversee development of grant requests to those funders
In partnership with the Chair of the Foundation's Board of Directors, plan and carry out regular meetings of the Board of Directors including scheduling, material preparation, meeting follow up and formulating of minutes
Serve as a member of the Hospital's executive team, providing regular updates on activities and identifying synergies with fellow staff to further Hospital goals. Provide timely and accurate reports to CEO of the Health System, the Foundation Board of Directors and the Health System Board of Directors
