The Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with The Catholic University of America in the search for an Assistant Dean for Advancement, School of Theology and Religious Studies.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement and Campaign Director, the Assistant Dean for Advancement, School of Theology and Religious Studies will work closely with the Dean of the School of Theology and Religious Studies, members of the university administration, and faculty to identify, cultivate, and secure outright, planned, and annual gifts from individuals – matching donor intent with the School of Theology and Religious Studies and University Campaign priorities.
Within the division of Advancement, the Assistant Dean for Advancement, School of Theology and Religious Studies will raise major, endowed, and planned gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the university. Such gifts range in size from five- to seven-figures and above, and support the university’s funding priorities, particularly the campaign priorities for the School of Theology and Religious Studies.
The School of Theology and Religious Studies – the university’s first and oldest school – serves as a bedrock of the university. Its mission of pontifical and ecclesiastical education comes directly from the heart of the Church as guided by the Vatican: to teach and to offer academic degrees to the lay and clergy leaders of tomorrow. Not only does the school prepare future leaders for their service to the Church; its faculty also work actively to study and address the present challenges facing the Catholic faith broadly. The School of Theology and Religious Studies considers the relevance of Catholicism and religion in everyday life and looks for ways to strengthen the relationship with God.
The School of Theology and Religious Studies teaches not only about the Church, but for it, too. For more than 130 years, the institution has been providing theological training to those at the heart of the Church in the United States: from seminarians and religious sisters to biomedical ethicists and liturgists. Professors at Catholic University are those who have received a canonical mission to teach in the name of the Church, educating disciples in lessons of faith and morality. This devotion to theological scholarship is augmented by access to major, international conferences that expose students to presentations, lectures, and thought leadership from world-renowned scholars and speakers.
As the nation’s premier Catholic University, The Catholic University of America has long played a leadership role in larger conversations: conversations within the Catholic Church about matters of intense social and theological importance; conversations between the Catholic Church and other Christian communities in the United States and beyond; and conversations between the Catholic Church and American society. It has played this leadership role first and foremost by the theological education provided by the School of Theology and Religious Studies to its students, great numbers of whom have gone on to play leadership roles at every level of society, in the United States and throughout the world, and by the research, publications, and public contributions of its faculty.
All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of The Catholic University of America.
A bachelor's degree is required for this position. At least ten years of progressively responsible development/advancement experience within a higher education environment is preferred.
