The Campaign Coordinator works closely with the Campaign Director and the Campaign Co-Chairs to ensure the Cathedral’s five-year comprehensive fundraising campaign is on schedule and progressing with a high level of visibility and momentum. A member of the Cathedral’s Development Department, the Campaign Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide assortment of administrative support to both Cathedral staff members and campaign volunteers. This position works as a part of the internal campaign team which includes the Campaign Director, Chief Development Officer, Director of Development Services, Associate Director of Prospect Development, and Manager of Donor Relations & Campaign Communications. In addition, the Campaign Coordinator communicates regularly with the Executive Assistants to the Provost and the Dean.
Among the duties assigned to the position are the following:
Campaign Committee Work:
Schedule and coordinate meetings for volunteer campaign committees, including drafting and disseminating supporting material.
Attend meetings and keep accurate minutes, giving special attention to action items.
Maintain open communications with campaign volunteers, support positive relations with internal departments and senior staff.
Campaign Support Management:
Support timely, accurate information transfer between senior leadership, volunteers, major gift officers and development services staff.
Support senior staff and campaign volunteers in adding data related to principal and lead level campaign prospects to the Raiser’s Edge database.
Major Donor Work:
Support creation of proposals and other collateral for donor meetings as directed by the Campaign Director and by frontline fundraisers.
Assist in drafting major donor correspondence and other documentation, including gift acknowledgment letters.
Support the preparation of pledge reminders and other stewardship pieces, as requested.
Research new prospects and current donors as directed by the Associate Director of Prospect Development.
Assist in updating campaign prospects in the Raiser’s Edge database, including adding contact reports, updating proposal information, and tracking outreach and actions.
Support the preparation of regular and special reports related to the campaign.
Campaign Event Support:
Support the planning and execution of campaign related events.
Attend events as needed.
Two to three years of experience in non-profit administration, political campaign administration, direct fundraising, or supporting a large membership organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills.
Knowledge of fundraising principles, practices, and daily operations within a development office.
Experience working effectively with leadership level staff and volunteers, as well as consultants and major donors.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Advanced working knowledge of MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
Ability to prepare and produce small mailings in-house, experience with mail merges.
Commitment to and enthusiasm for Washington National Cathedral, its vision and mission.
Ability to work Sundays, evenings, weekends or irregular hours as necessary to staff relevant meetings and events.
Some travel is required in order to meet with donors and prospects.
